The Rev. John Granchie, new pastor of Zion Congregational Church, is all about his congregation learning to go and into the community to show the love of Christ.
His style of preaching is telling Biblical stories in modern day language so people can understand them more clearly.
Granchie’s path to the ministry began when he was in the Air force from 1986 to 1991. He said growing up he had gone to church, but didn’t take it seriously. “During the Gulf War, I was led to the Lord by men I was serving with “.
While still in the Service, Granchie took a number of college courses. And when he was discharged, he entered on-line classes at Trinity College in Ellendale, ND and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies.
Originally from Youngstown, OH Granchie returned there, and in 2000 he became the executive director of the Dream Center in Youngstown, picking up donations and distributing them to those in need.
He was a volunteer at Mount Calvary Community Church in West Branch, Ohio, and became the minister for a short while. From 2007 to 2012, Granchie was an associate pastor in charge of sports outreach at the Bridge of Hope Church in Boardman, Ohio, and also did motivational speaking.
Then received a call to a church in Iowa and later to PA. As Pastor Granchie begins his new ministry in Cheyenne, he is eager to help Zion Congregational learn to be “Jesus with skin on” in our community.
